Speaking of film scores, we went to see John Williams at the Bowl on Friday night with Jon and Al. None of us realized it, but Stanley Donen was a featured guest. He is a powerhouse director who made films for MGM including “Singing in the Rain” and “Royal Wedding”. He described how they completed certain scenes in a movie and then John Williams conducted the LA Phil to the picture. Of course, John Williams played some of his standards like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and he did a wonderful sequence of Olympic music. He also played two different themes from “Star Wars” and I looked around to see probably 100 people waving light savers. And just so you don’t think it’s only kids in the back, there were two light savers in the circle section in front of the orchestra. We have one more date with the Bowl. Our friend Debbie invited us to join a group of 70 to go in September. The program is a sing along with “The Sound of Music”. I’m planning to bring a lot of wine for that one!
Tim is still on deadline for a major project so we canceled our vacation and re-scheduled for the end of the month. I’ve worked on so many projects - I’m getting much more organized.
